Hairline Filler

Hairline filler – A lift from above

The ultimate love in my “background work” is filler delivered under the hairline. It creates an effective anchor, indirectly lifting the tail of the eyebrow and / or arch of the cheek without injecting into the face itself.

Assessment is made by moving the tissue to feel and see what the best trajectory is for the desired outcome. Under local anaesthetic cover, a cannula is gently inserted into the superficial tissue plane to layer appropriate filler at the most effective anchor points. This creates subtle lift to the face without injecting filler directly into the face, creating more volume where volume may not be desired or indicated.

If you follow the vector of the cheekbone, back into the hairline, it is possible to marry this advanced technique with subtle sculping of the cheek bones, if indicated and desired. This is always carried out with respect for the individual parameters of anatomy, by micro sculpting the filler. The outcome is a confluent flow of tissue with subtle lift and contour.

It works well above to temporal hollow also and may be combined with filler directly to the temples if the temple hollow is creating a bony orbit of the eye, which will benefit from volumising and softening.

All in the name of creating better surface tension for the tissue, hairline filler is an extremely subtle yet effective procedure. Delivered under local anaesthetic there is a potential sense of mild pressure and an “odd’ sensation but there is no pain to speak of.

This has become a firm favourite amongst patients with adequate facial volume who are seeking further, subtle lift.

The Process

The area is assesses by touch to identify the ideal injection site for anchoring loose tissue, and ensuring the most effective lift.

1. Assessment

The area is sterilised and injected with local anaesthetic. Once numbed, a cannula is gently inserted to deliver appropriate amounts of filler in the target areas to anchor and gently lift the face.

2. Filler Injection

Frequently asked questions

  • You may experience swelling, redness, tenderness, and bruising at the injection site. Uneven swelling is normal and should balance out as it subsides. These effects typically resolve within a few days to two weeks.

  • Bruising can occur despite precautions to avoid it. If bruising happens, it will typically be apparent immediately after treatment. Bruises may change colour as they heal, from red to purple, black, green, and eventually yellow. Using Arnica and Vitamin K cream can help speed up the healing process.

  • We aim for subtle, natural results, which take 2-4 weeks to fully settle. A review can be scheduled afterward, where additional filler can be added for a fee, or, if needed, filler can be adjusted or dissolved with hyaluronidase.

  • Most patients experience minimal discomfort during the procedure. Numbing cream and local anaesthetic are used for added comfort.

  • It’s best to avoid applying makeup for 12-24 hours after your filler procedure to reduce the risk of infection or irritation at the injection site.
