What has become known as “The Non-Surgical Face Lift” describes a procedure that uses hyaluronic fillers to restore and lift the face, creating appropriate balance with lighter and brighter impression overall.

A “face lift without surgery” comprises non-invasive rejuvenation, which targets the pattern of volume loss seen across the face. We don’t have one layer of “skin” on the face that goes down to bone. Instead, we have different pockets of volume (“fat pads”) that sit at different levels in the soft tissue of the face. Some fat pads are deep and attached to bone. These don’t move but lose volume over time. Some sit more superficially, and they move, sliding downwards and separating from each other. Both factors result in the descent of the skin and soft tissues.

This reduced surface tension in the face, leads to crepey skin - think of a deflated balloon. Shadows also become apparent, created by grooves and hollows where the volume is depleted, and grooves where the fat pads separate. Equally shadows are created where the slide in the soft tissue overhangs ligaments (attachments to bone) and creates folds.

The fat cells in the deep layers display different characteristics to those found more superficially. This informs the choice of filler, selecting products that mirror the fat found in the discrete compartments, and the techniques for injecting. Understanding all of this means that we are able to restore structure and volume in a strategic way that delivers an effective and natural looking result.
